Sometimes the best art happens when you’re running out of time… and don’t get a second attempt.
The music video is a love letter to momentum: loud boots on concrete, Los Angeles street heat shimmer, and the kind of timing you cannot storyboard.
After wrapping a shoot under the freeway bus stops in Los Angeles with Yaddy Ray and AjerkFace, we had a little extra adrenaline and a sunset to burn. We decided to hit record on a cellphone and walk southbound on Vermont Blvd, crossing over the 101. No permits, no trailers, just one take to get it right.
What you see in the "Damned Sweet” video is that exact moment. You’ll see the Metro Local 204 driving by (we can only imagine what riders were thinking as they rolled past us), and if you listen closely to the end, you’ll hear us realizing the LAPD was closing in. As Vivian says, "Perfect timing." (We didn’t know how right that would feel until later.)
We chose the vertical format to bring you right into the middle of the walk. This is meant to be viewed on your phone, full-screen, as an immersive experience. Held in your hand. In real time.
